Our Team
Paul Fletcher
Priest in Charge
Originally from Scotland, Paul has spent over half his life in Aotearoa. He is married to (his boss!) Anashuya Fletcher who is the Assistant Bishop of Wellington. Together, with their two energetic kids, they moved into the heart of Newtown (Feb 2025) having spent previous seasons in Whanganui and Auckland. Paul has been a follower of Jesus since the age of 18 with his ministry background being involved in pastoring, church planting, social enterprise business initiatives (namely co-founding Common Good Coffee!), and missional community leadership as part of Urban Vision Aotearoa. His greatest acheivement among all the ‘stuff’ though “was marrying Ana”. Both Paul and Ana are passionaite about Jesus and His upside down kingdom message; prayerfully seeking what courageous and life-giving forms this can take in our neighbourhoods and city.

Fiona Roberton
Parish Manager
Fiona Roberton began as our Parish Manager in early 2025; bringing a wealth of experience and a strong connection to our church community.
Fiona and her husband, Pete, have been part of the St Toms community for over 11 years, with their daughters Kate and Holly jumping in about 8 and 5 years ago. In addition to her new role with us, Fiona also works part-time at St Augustine’s Church in Petone, where she’s been since 2021—aside from 2023, when she took on a role as a Communications and Grants Writer for the Anglican Centre.
Her role includes key administrative responsibilities as well as covering project and property management, communications, and long term fundraising.
Rev Sophie + Rev Chris Silvester
Curates (Transitional Deacons)
Chris and Sophie Silvester have been living in, and loving, Newtown for more than 15 years. They both love young people (most especially their own three children!). Chris has a background in youth work, including some years as a youth worker at the Newtown Community Center and working at Newtown School. Chris also loves music - you can hear his drum beats on the Songs for the Road album. If Sophie could do it as a job, she would study at uni forever. She enjoys talking theology and reading in Greek and Hebrew. In previous years, they have been part of the Ink/Greenhaus community, Ramsey House (The Anglican Chaplaincy at Victoria University) and the St Tom's Wheels team. As part of Wheels, they have been crazy enough to live with their preschool children in a house bus that Chris renovated as they went! To spot them around Newtown, keep a look-out for big smiles and curly hair.
