Who is in charge?
Kia ora e te whānau,
Whether you're watching the news, looking at social media, or catching up with a friend it seems that everyone is asking, "Who is in charge?" During this time of riots, elections, and the pandemic many are looking to national and world leaders for guidance as to how life should look and for when things will get better. The thing is that however unique this time in history may feel, it is not the only time when people have joined together in crying out for good examples of authority. You only have to look at the Bible to see that this has been an issue ever since the beginning!
On Sunday we looked at examples in both Exodus and Matthew where God's people were looking to Him for wisdom and a way out of difficult situations. While it may have taken them a while to listen to Him, God remained full of grace and ready to lead. As we put ourselves in the shoes of those in scripture, we see that knowing and remembering the fruit of putting God in control of our lives is only part of the picture. It is also important to be obedient when God shows us His call for our lives.
As we continue to live our lives and observe what is going on around us, let us not forget who is really in control. God is the author and creator of each of us and the beautiful world in which we live. He can be trusted especially when the important things around us seem fragile and unpredictable.
