Table Talk Conversation for Māori Wards

  • All Saints Anglican Church Hataitai 90 Hamilton Road Wellington, Wellington Region, 6021 New Zealand (map)

Faith-filled conversations to navigate Māori Ward Referendums.

From 9 September, here in Wellington South we have the opportunity to vote in a referendum on whether to keep Māori wards at Wellington City Council.

This can be a complex and often misunderstood issue. In our church, we have a unique opportunity to create space for curious, gracious, and informed conversations —grounded in our faith and guided by the wisdom of Māori Christian leaders.

The ‘Table Talk Conversations for Māori Wards in local government - A Christian Guide’— is a 2-hour workshop for small groups, with short videos, discussion questions, interactive activities and prayer. It’s designed to help us learn, reflect and have our questions or anxieties on this topic answered. It features contributions from church leaders and theologians like Dr Alistair Reese, Jay Ruka, Sir David Moxon and Te Aroha Rountree, and the perspectives of Māori leaders in the movement for Māori wards.

If you want to give this some thought before voting, come along!

Monday 15 September, 7:00-9:00pm at All Saints Hataitai, 90 Hamilton Rd. RSVP to kate.v.day@gmail.com. Learn more about what’s involved at: commongrace.nz/maoriwards
